Got to play 40 Thieves for their closing weekend in Bali! Maaan, had so many good nights in that little room over the years, so it meant something to be there for the send-off.
The place was a proper institution - a NY-style speakeasy that the locals and the expats in the know all loved. That little spot even made Asia’s 50 Best Bars.
Mostly though it was about the people. Met so many good peeps through that place - Shah, Rizky, Aldi, Araminta and the rest, all good mates now. Every time I come back to Bali I catch up with everyone, hang out, play some beatz.
Funny thing - a few of the DJs over there knew my edits before they knew me! Rizkycore already had some in his crates, and Ronnie Be Good - who I met playing at The Lawn in Canggu - chased me down after I gave him my card ‘cause he’d been spinning them too. Always a trip when your music gets somewhere before you do.
Played the closing weekend alongside Rizkycore, everyone up on the bar by the end, bottles in the air. Fitting way to finish the place! Big love to Shah and the whole crew.
